Bent Nordsted started in a simple hardware store but rose to forming his own company Nordsted & Co in 1957 with its own designs of drinking glasses and glass lamps.
In the 1970s he ran Nord-Fair and Nordsted Design together with his twin brother, Birger Nordsted-Jørgensen(architect). Nordsted Design made everything from lamps and candlesticks to pepper mills and cutlery. Ultimately the company had to be closed as it was plagued by plagiarism and cheap counterfeit goods but a lot of products, especially the pepper mills, are still in circulation today and widely recognised.
He also designed lamps for several Danish lighting producers such as Fog & Mørup, Lyskær Belysning, Kastrup Glassworks and Holmegaard.
Bent Nordsted is unfortunately dead, but the year of death is unknown.
