Celadon porcelain flower vessel, with fitted wooden box and inscribed lid, with maker's seal: Dohachi, the inside lid with inscription: this is made by Takahashi Dohachi IV (1845-1897), (art name Mitsuyori / Kachutei), examined and authenticated by Takahashi Doraju VI (1881-1941) with seals Dohachi and Kachu

The Takahashi Dohachi dynasty specalised in celadon ware amongst other, more colourful forms of Kiyomizu ware (ceramics produced within the grounds of Kiyomizu Temple, a tradition dating back to the Edo period). Celadon ware denotes those ceramics glazed in the distinctive jade green celadon colour

Note: Dohachi Kiln, Kyoto: Takahashi Dohachi (1740-1804) and continues to the current generation Dohachi IX (born in 1973)
