An early 18th century chinoiserie chest of drawers with later marble top over three drawers with charming lacquered Chinese landscape scenes terminating in bun feet. With later replaced lock escutcheons and metal work, retaining it's original lifting handles to the side
The body of this chest of drawers is early 18th century, quite possible from the Queen Anne period and has been adapted and adjusted as tastes and styles have changed throughout the years. The bulk of it probably formed the base of a bureau secretaire, identifiable by the large lifting handles to either side, and the later marble top which covers the unfinished wooden surface
The bun feet have been rotated front to back so the nicely carved and worn front feet are now on the rear
English, circa 1710, with later alterations and additions
