Gustavo Bittencourt is a contemporary Brazilian furniture designer. He was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1986 and graduated in 2009 with a degree in Industrial Design from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Even before university, Bittencourt knew that he wanted to follow a path in design after being influenced by his architect mother.Once at university, he started to focus on developing furniture, later seeing that he was on the right path when he won prizes for his first pieces in national competitions. Constantly looking for new knowledge and to improve his techniques, Bittencourt has worked under some of his design inspirations such as Zanini de Zanine, Marcelo Rosenbaum, and Rodrigo Calixto. He also went to Italy to study at the Polytechnic of Torino and worked in the Thomas Hayes gallery in Los Angeles in 2011.Zanini de Zanine said after working with Gustavo Bittencourt that the young designer had an obvious interest and dedication fundamental to working in design.
