Product Description
The Casa Lucano project in Sanremo was a notable 1951 residential interior design collaboration between architect Gio Ponti and artist Piero Fornasetti for the Lucano family. While Casa Lucano itself is a famous apartment located in Milan (built circa 1951-1952), it is historically grouped with the Casinò di Sanremo project. Both projects were designed by Ponti and furnished by Fornasetti during their golden decade of creative partnership. Together, these projects pioneered the "Casa di Fantasia" (House of Fantasy) design movement. The design of the sofa leans heavily into the surreal and theatrical, with the dramatic, high-backed capitonné (tufted) silhouette back, reminiscent of the over-the-top extravagance of 19th Century Rococo Revival
