Pendant with patinated brass bayonet socket house marked "Patented", "P.H.-4". Shades of frosted glass with painted gold rim. Designed by Poul Henningsen and manufactured in the 1930s by Louis Poulsen
Unlike the ubiquitous solid copper shades, the frosted glass allows light to penetrate the shade and escape into the room, offering a greater level of light distribution than just downward reflection. By using translucent materials, the whole thing is naturally bright. Spiral decoration or decorative gold rims, as per our example, were offered as decorative extras.
