A highly stylised and muscular 20th century version of an ancient Greek Klismos chair in polished Oak with steam bent back rest on shaped supports over leather seat on downswept sabre legs terminating in brass feet

The Klismos design was distinguished by its spare, dynamic lines and sweeping, curved rear stiles beneath a broad, deeply curved back rest or tablet. No examples have survived from ancient times but depictions can be on period painted pottery and bas-reliefs
