Provenance: Formerly the property of Norman Jewson
Norman Jewson (1884-1975) was a prominent English Arts and Crafts architect who trained under Ernest Gimson in the Cotswolds. He became a leading figure in the movement's later phase, designing numerous country houses, churches, and restoration projects throughout England. Jewson's work exemplified Arts and Crafts principles through honest use of local materials, traditional building techniques, and integration with landscape. His notable projects include restorations at Owlpen Manor and original designs like St. Andrew's Church, Wickhampton. He authored "By Chance I Did Rove," documenting the Arts and Crafts movement. Jewson's architectural legacy bridges traditional craftsmanship with early twentieth-century sensibilities.
