Driven from childhood by a strong passion for decoration, Jean Royère radically changed his life at the age of 29, leaving Le Havre and the business world for, as he said, "Paris and the Faubourg, the Faubourg Saint-Antoine."

He joined Maison Gouffé through a friend in 1934, allowing him to exhibit at the Salon d'Automne and the Salon of the Society of Decorative Artists. After only two years of experience, he was entrusted with the installation and furnishing of a large brasserie on the Champs-Elysées after winning the competition.

This achievement launched his fame. Subsequently, he was entrusted with numerous projects such as the interior design of the famous restaurant Le Fouquet's on the Champs-Elysées and the design of the private apartments of the commander of the ocean liner *France*.
His world remained unique and stood out due to his diverse material choices, including wood, metal, and straw. He drew part of his inspiration from nature, as evidenced by his famous "liane" floor lamp, which he presented at the Salon of Decorative Artists in 1959.
