An early 19th century Regency painted chair with ebonised surface containing painted decorative swags and husks on overstuffed seat on sabre legs terminating in brass castors. Covered with RU Liquorice Linen (5637). The paint work and gilding refreshed

The dynamic profile of the spoonback is reminiscent of the stylised profile of the facial openings of the Corinthian Helmet, a reference typical of the archaeological revivalist style of the regency period
