Nobuyoshi Wakasa

Biography

Wakasa Nobuyoshi is a contemporary Japanese ceramic artist known for his refined, sculptural vessels that explore texture, form, and the expressive qualities of clay. His work often combines traditional Japanese ceramic techniques with a highly individual, modern aesthetic, producing pieces that feel both ancient and contemporary. Wakasa's ceramics are distinguished by subtle asymmetry, tactile surfaces, and restrained glazes that emphasise the materiality of the clay itself. Working primarily in stoneware, he creates functional and sculptural forms that reflect the Japanese appreciation for imperfection and quiet beauty. His work has been exhibited internationally and is admired for its contemplative elegance and craftsmanship.
