The Treasure House Fair 2023 Collection

Rose Uniacke is proud to have exhibited at the inaugural edition of The Treasure House Fair, at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea.

A highlight at this year's fair was the early 19th century Regency Rosewood Sofa. Large in size, it features a shaped back support and over scrolled arms, beautifully ornamented with rich classical ormolu mounts in the form of trailing laurel leaves. The sofa has been been re-upholstered in Rose Uniacke Gingerbread Velvet with double pipe.

A collection of 1930s Swedish pine pieces by furniture designer Axel Einar Hjorth was also on display, including a Lovö bookshelf, a side table designed for Nordiska Kompaniet, a pair of cabinets and a set of six chairs with later velvet squab cushions. Hjorth's Sportstugemöbler collection was intended for Swedish summer houses of his design, displaying a mix of modernism and provisional handicraft espoused by the designer during the 1930s. These (usually unlabelled) pieces were named after Stockholm's archipelago islands, including Blidö, Sandhamn, Toro and Lovö.

In the collection were rare pieces including a 19th Century Venetian Gilded Glass Mirror, a late Regency Stone Table, a George III Oval Mirror, a 19th Century Parquetry Drop-Leaf Table and a Set of Five 1960s 'Avenurina D'Oro' Bubble Wall Sconces by Barovie & Toso, amongst others.
