The 'Stiletto' line refers to a highly precise, moulded geometric pattern of sharp triangular prisms pressed directly into the glass. This spreads the light evenly across the surface, making the glass look entirely luminous, while hiding the harsh glare of the filament bulb inside. The earliest versions, often called 'Blondel Stilettos', feature patent stamps from around 1909 and were produced heavily in the 1910s. These were typically paired with ornate Arts & Crafts copper or brass galleries. By the 1920s the Stiletto light was at peak production and were common fixtures in most institutional settings across the UK and Western Europe
