This pair of Panneaus by Simone Prouvé is made entirely of clevyl, a non-flammable material used for things such as knit fabrics, baby diapers and fake fur. The fibres are easy to dye, resulting in a beautiful range of blue tones.
The abstract shapes, as with many of Prouvé's weavings, appear to be drawn from nature, resembling the outlines of distant mountains or the birds-eye view of an ocean tide. Prouvé liked to play with our skills of imagination, leaving her designs open to interpretation. The overall impression of these weavings is peaceful and delicate, yet somewhat playful, with bursts of vibrant colour visible in its horizontal lines.
